1 killed, 3 injured in shooting inside NYC mechanic shop

NEW YORK — One person was killed and three others were injured during a shooting at a mechanic shop in New York City on Saturday, authorities said.

The incident occurred as a party was taking place in the Richmond Hills neighborhood of Queens, WABC-TV reported.

According to the New York City Police Department, the gunman opened fire in the shop at about 9:40 p.m. EDT, WCBS-TV reported.

One man was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the television station.

He was identified as Justin Baerga, 24, who was shot in the head, WABC reported. He was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A 25-year-old man was shot in the leg and was also taken to a hospital, according to the television station.

A 17-year-old woman was grazed in the torso and an 18-year-old woman was grazed in the head, WABC reported. Both refused medical attention at the scene.

All three are expected to survive, according to the television station.

It is unclear what led to the shooting. No arrests have been made, and police said the investigation was ongoing.
