A North Carolina woman gave birth to a daughter -- and hit a $100,000 Powerball prize hours later in the North Carolina Education Lottery.

Brenda Gomez Hernandez, 28, of Concord, hit it big on Nov. 9 with a healthy baby girl to go with her two sons, and a healthier bank account to foot the bills for her newborn and the rest of her family.

“I feel like she brought me my luck,” Hernandez told lottery officials in a news release after collecting her check on Wednesday. “I’m so thankful.”

Hernandez, a housekeeper, bought a ticket from the QuikTrip convenience store in Concord. Using the birthdays of her two sons, Hernandez matched four white balls and the Powerball to win $50,000, lottery officials. The number doubled when the 2X Power Play multiplier hit, lottery officials said.

“When I found out I cried,” Hernandez said. “I’m just so excited and happy.”

Hernandez claimed her prize at lottery headquarters on Wednesday. After the required taxes were deducted, she took home $65,015.

Hernandez said a large portion of her winnings will go toward paying for her house.

And also for diapers, no doubt.
