According to WFTV, the Palm Bay Police Department took to Facebook on Thursday to share the image of an officer smiling as the gator – with its mouth wide open – crawls out of a storm drain.

“When you’re just trying to take a normal sewer selfie and you get photobombed ... (At least he smiled),” the department captioned the photo, which has been shared more than 2,700 times. “The theory is that this fella probably found his way into the sewer drain and got himself stuck pretty good.”

Police called the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, which sent a trapper to capture and relocate the reptile, the caption said.

“No animals (or officers) were harmed in the making of this photo,” added the post, which included the hashtags #YesItsReal and #WelcomeToFlorida.

If you see a “nuisance alligator” in Florida, call the FWC at 1-866-FWC-Gator, police said.
