Fans were convinced that Liv’s third album would follow the pattern of her first two albums, SOUR and GUTS, and have a one-word, four-letter, all-caps title. Many fans were further convinced that the album would be called LOVE. Well, Olivia wasn’t going to do what everyone expected of her.
Her new album, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love, is out June 12 and is now available to preorder. Limited-edition merch, vinyl and more are available now. The album cover shows her swinging on a swing, wearing a pink dress, high-heeled black Mary Janes and white socks.
As with her previous albums, Olivia made this one with producer Dan Nigro. Olivia says on Instagram, “I am so proud of this record and I can’t wait for you to hear it.”
In March, Olivia told British Vogue that the album was made up of “sad love songs,” adding, “I realised all my favourite romantic love songs were beautiful because they had a tinge of fear or yearning in them.”
Olivia started teasing the new album with a purple wall in LA with her new logo painted on it. Over several days, the color transitioned to pink, which is the color of her new era.
The new album is the follow-up to 2023’s GUTS.
