KitKat is trying to track down the 12 tons of stolen candy and it’s asking the public to help.
Nestlé launched a KitKat tracker that lets consumers enter their candy bar’s lot number to see if it was among the 413,793 others that were taken, Business Insider reported.
The problem is, the tracker was shared by KitKat on X on, of all days, April 1 or April Fool’s Day.
But the company assured followers it wasn’t a prank.
The candy bars were a specific run of them, the Formula 1 chocolate bars shaped like a race car.
They were taken from a truck that had been leaving an Italian production site, USA Today reported. The heist happened the week of March 23.
The company said it is working with police and supply chain partners to find the missing sweets, but that the overall supply is not affected.
Nestlé makes KitKats for worldwide distribution, but Hershey makes them for the U.S.
